New Exhibitors and New Events Boost PLASA Focus: Leeds 2011

Two special evening events and 21 new and first time exhibitors have been added to the attractions already on offer during PLASA Focus, taking place at The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, on Tuesday and Wednesday April 19-20. Alongside 130 exhibitors across two halls, and a two day program of free educational seminars and product demonstrations, visitors can also take advantage of two evening events taking place in Leeds in the evenings after PLASA Focus, with free transport between each event.

The inaugural AES in the North meeting will be held at the University of Leeds' School of Music on April 19 starting at 6.30pm. This new group, founded by Kerry-Anne Kubisa along with AES Cambridge, is leading the expansion of the AES audio community outside of London. Roger Quested is guest lecturer on the topic Point One Pitfalls - Monitoring for Surround Mixing Explained. With his experience of surround systems gained from working with names like Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Pearl Harbor, The Dark Knight), Hackenbacker Studios (Downton Abbey, Spooks, Shaun of the Dead) and Trevor Horn, this will be a great chance for those hoping to maximize their surround mixes. There are a limited number of free places available on a coach from PLASA Focus to The Leeds University, School of Music. To book your place; please email Kerry-Anne at the address listed below.

Since rebranding last year, LS-Live has undergone a major renovation and the team there is inviting PLASA Focus visitors to board a coach when PLASA Focus finishes, and join them at LS Live for a BBQ, drinks and entertainment.

The evening will also mark the official launch of The Backstage Academy and the unveiling of its Apple Authorized Training Suite, with plans for a new foundation degree in live events production, to be delivered on site. The Backstage Academy's range of short courses will commence in April, including the accredited courses from Apple and Avid. Visitors should pre-register for a coach pass and wristband here .
