NEXT-proaudio's Matrix Series Is Now Ready for Delivery

NEXT Matrix was presented on the last ISE Amsterdam, and it is now coming out from the production line and ready for delivery with large quantities available in stock.

NEXT-proaudio has unveiled the Matrix Series of passive column arrays aimed at installed and small, portable applications. With a chassis of aluminum and wood, the cabinets are described as "stylish and yet sturdy" and designed for architectural integration as well as portable solutions.

The Matrix Series comprises two models: The Matrix M8 (8x3") and the Matrix M3 (3x3"), which house eight and three 3" neodymium transducers respectively. Built to offer a "high intelligibility at high SPL" and "wider frequency response while providing constant beam-width over a user selectable vertical coverage," the Matrix columns provide beam control that reportedly extends up to 10kHz.

In addition, to better control the lower frequencies, the tuned dipolar technology was developed by NEXT-proaudio engineers to provide much more consistent low frequency pattern control than other similar size systems. This can be a very important advantage to reduce the stimulation of resonant room modes at low frequencies.

A user selectable music / vocal mode switch is incorporated to allow quick and easy system optimization. Music mode is intended to give a flat, balanced frequency response, while vocal mode adds a mid-range presence to enhance speech intelligibility.

NEXT MATRIX column arrays are able to focus the acoustical energy where it is needed, the listening area, leading to significant improvements to speech intelligibility and musical clarity even in critical acoustic environments.

For even greater versatility, another choice presented to users is the ability to switch the vertical dispersion pattern between wide or narrow coverage.

The internal processing board at the heart of the M3 and M8 column arrays reportedly handles array optimization, allowing users to adjust the system behavior to meet application requirements. Adding to the ease of set up is the 16mm cavity in the back of the cabinet, which conceals wiring, even when the speaker is mounted flat against a wall in architectural integrated installations, while a removable input screw connector simplifies the wiring process.

This series can fit permanent installation, bars, clubs and restaurants, speech reinforcement, transportation halls, houses of worship, critical environments, auditoriums, as well as portable solutions.
