MDG Wins ESTim Award for Best Manufacturing Company

MDG vice president of finances, Jacques Foisy, and MDG CEO Martin Michaud, with a representative of IQ Investissement Quebec with the 2018 ESTim Award for Best Manufacturing Company.

MDG is extremely proud to be the recipient of the 2018 ESTim Award for Best Manufacturing Company from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Montreal. MDG has manufactured award-winning haze, fog, and low fog generators for over 38 years at its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. It is a proudly Canadian company and has a worldwide network of trusted distributors in the MDG family.

The 30th annual ESTim Awards ceremony took place in Montreal on May 3, where it celebrated the businesses and organizations within its territory that have distinguished themselves exceptionally through their own success. The contest also highlights and encourages, among its members, a sense of belonging and pride in its territory. This year's the theme was "Fertile Ground."

MDG was a finalist in two categories -- Manufacturing Company and Export Company -- and was delighted to have the honor of being voted best Manufacturing Company.

The award was accepted by MDG CEO, Martin Michaud, accompanied by vice president of finances, Jacques Foisy. Michaud delivered a moving speech to a highly appreciative audience. He began by asking the lighting technician to dim the lights, and explained that all in attendance had been basking in the haze of an MDG product called ATMOSPHERE, the industry standard hazer for over 20 years. He used this to illustrate the importance of haze in showing off the beauty of lighting in entertainment environments.

Michaud then made a point of thanking his employees at MDG for all their hard work over the past 38 years. He talked about the "fertile ground" of the teamwork that existed within the company, how all MDG employees have their say, and that when someone has an idea, everybody works on it together. The trophy will go on display in the workshop for the employees to enjoy and as an acknowledgement of how their work is appreciated inside and outside the company. Michaud concluded his speech by thanking his wife, "my love," Leticia Villeneuve, for supporting him for the last 30 years, in a touching moment that received the warmest reception from the audience.

The speech was well received by the many distinguished guests present from different levels of government, both provincial and municipal, including the mayor of Montreal, Valerie Plant, and Christine Black, mayor of the Borough of Montreal-North, all of whom were clearly enjoying the atmosphere.

The ceremony was followed on May 14 by the official signing of the visitor's book in the Borough of Montreal-North where MDG is located. This honor was carried out by Michaud at the invitation of Black, accompanied by Foisy, in the presence of the Borough Council. Black thanked Michaud publicly for his attendance, despite his jet lag, having arrived from a long business trip to China the day before.

"This is an occasion I would not have missed," says Michaud. "One can never be tired in the face of such an honor!"
