NAMM and Bass Magazine Expand Partnership for 2027 NAMM Show

"Me and the boys had an absolute blast and I'm proud to have been part of the best damn bass event out there," says says Mike Dirnt of Green Day after the 2026 Bass Magazine Awards and live performance.

NAMM (The National Association of Music Merchants) and Bass Magazine, have announced an expanded partnership for The 2027 NAMM Show, officially naming the Bass Magazine Awards an on-campus NAMM event. The 2027 Bass Magazine Awards Show will take place on Thursday, January 28th at the ACC Arena sponsored by RCF, elevating the event to a centerpiece celebration within the show's live music and industry programming.

Building on the momentum of the 2026 NAMM Show -- where Primus, Green Day, Khruangbin, Marcus Miller, and Blu DeTiger delivered standout live performances -- the 2027 Bass Magazine Awards Show predicts an even more immersive experience. The event will feature an all-star lineup of honorees, surprise collaborations, and unforgettable performances celebrating the global bass community.

"Welcoming the awards as an official on-campus event at the ACC Arena for 2027 reflects our continued commitment to delivering world-class experiences that elevate the brands that we gather to celebrate," says John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO. "This additional awards show accentuates the value of all the awards presented at The NAMM Show."

"The NAMM Show is universally recognized as the preeminent gathering of the music industry, and it is a tremendous honor to deepen our partnership in such a meaningful way as to be at the heart of the NAMM campus," says Jon D'Auria, editor-in-chief of Bass Magazine. "After an incredible 2026 partnership, we're raising the bar for 2027 with a bigger stage, more artists, and a more heartfelt celebration of the instrument and the culture surrounding it."

"The Bass Magazine Awards Show has become the premier global event dedicated to the low-end community, honoring legendary players, groundbreaking artists, and the next generation shaping the future of bass," the organization says. "With its new home at the ACC Arena, the show will be fully integrated into the NAMM campus experience, offering expanded access and an even more dynamic production."

Previous Bass Magazine Award recipients include Sting, Mike Dirnt, Justin Chancellor, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, John Patitucci, Laura Lee, MonoNeon, Blu DeTiger and Mohini Dey. Also, past award shows have featured once-in-a-lifetime performances by such legends as Tool, Green Day, Primus, Khruangbin, Marcus Miller, and the rest of those honored. Presenters have included Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Victor Wooten, Tal Wilkenfeld, Nathan East, Leland Sklar, Derrick Hodge, Les Claypool, Justin Chancellor, Ronnie Ficcaro, and more.

"What an incredible evening! The show was epic and one for the record books," says Mike Dirnt of Green Day after the 2026 Bass Magazine Awards and live performance. "Me and the boys had an absolute blast and I'm proud to have been part of the best damn bass event out there."

"Literally one of the greatest nights of my career," says Les Claypool of Primus. "I knew it was going to be cool, but it turned out to be one of the most epic musical things I've been a part of. It was very humbling and heartwarming from start to finish."

Additional details including final 2027 award recipients, live performances, and event ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks.
