AVDG Appoints Edward "Ty" Olsen as Director of National Services

Edward "Ty" Olsen, AVDG director of national services

Audio Visual Design Group (AVDG), a commercial and residential audiovisual system integrator currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, announces the appointment of Edward "Ty" Olsen to the position of director of national services, where he will provide leadership and strategic planning for AVDG's service teams across North America. His appointment underscores AVDG's ongoing expansion and follows the recent appointments of additional leading industry personnel in key management positions.

An industry veteran, Olsen has more than 25 years of experience spanning numerous roles with audio-visual technology integration. Prior to joining AVDG, Olsen was VP of managed services, as well as engineering director, at Unified Technology Systems, a leading integrator in the southeast US that was acquired by Solutionz Inc. in 2020.

As director of national services, Olsen will be in charge of maximizing AVDG's commercial and residential post-installation service offerings across the organization's seven US locations. He will also play a key strategic role in strengthening service team operations to ensure that AVDG is effectively supporting its customers nationally.

"We are excited about what Ty can bring to our services nationally as he works closely with sales teams to develop new and exciting opportunities," says Mohit Parasher, president of business solutions at Guitar Center, AVDG's parent company. "Ty is an experienced manager, as well as a talented programmer, so he will come to the field with experience and an enthusiasm for what we do both commercially and residentially."

In prior roles, Olsen provided leadership to an expansive operations team that consisted of a central call center manager, service coordinators, service contract salespeople, service technicians, and service engineers. He also developed an organizational business plan to successfully implement several key initiatives, including process improvement, a new commission structure for sales teams, implementation of a new customer relationship management system, and the creation of new sales collateral.

Olsen also served as engineering director at Unified AV, providing strategic direction of the Engineering department. During Olsen's tenure, Unified AV's clients included brands such as Time Warner Cable, Duke Energy, Volvo, Ralph Lauren, and BMW.

Olsen's diverse experience allows him to bring to AVDG a comprehensive understanding of the technical, managerial, and business side of the AV industry. In addition to developing and implementing operation procedures, Olsen will help drive initiatives that increase employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, and increased profitability. He will also review performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement of the field service technicians to determine areas needing training and program improvement.

Olsen will be based out of AVDG's New Hampshire location but will be immersed in the company's teams in every region.

"I am excited to join AVDG's phenomenal teams, who have a reputation for excellence across the AV industry," says Olsen. "Audio-visual and automation technology are constantly evolving, which provides the opportunity to continually adapt and improve processes. I look forward to working with AVDG's teams to provide the best solutions to commercial and residential clients."
