Limitless Lights and Sound Deliver for Bun B's Ridin' Dirty 30th Anniversary CelebrationLimitless Lights and Sound provided concert production services spanning lighting, audio, LED video, staging, rigging, and crew for Bun B and Friends Presents: Been Ridin' Dirty, the one-night-only 30th anniversary celebration of hip-hop duo UGK's landmark album Ridin' Dirty, held August 1 at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land. Performed front to back in album sequence, the show paired Bun B with Big K.R.I.T., 8Ball & MJG, Lil Keke, Slim Thug, David Banner, Z-Ro, Chamillionaire, Killa Kyleon, Smoke D, Ronnie Spencer, N.O. Joe, Botany Boyz, Jack Freeman, Quiet Money Dot, Trilly Polk, and Big Smokin' Mitch, among others, honoring the verses of the late Pimp C before 5,500 attendees. The event was presented by Double Dose Entertainment. Limitless Lights and Sound, based in Austin, Texas, anchored its scope with a flown 2.6mm main Absen NT V2 LED wall framed around a ground-supported LED DJ facade. The two elements were aligned so the DJ appeared embedded within the video canvas, while the main wall flew from a 50' box-truss header on four one-ton motors. The lighting package, designed by Jeff Mathews of Borealis Live, layered Chauvet Color STRIKE M fixtures, ACME Pixel Line IP fixtures, Elation Paragon M profiles, and Claypaky Ultimo Sharpy fixtures over the venue's house rig. Limitless L1 Kyle Kosanovich programmed and operated the show from a grandMA3 session integrated with the house grandMA2 system. Audio included a dedicated outboard monitor system with twelve Shure PSM1000 IEM positions, eight L-Acoustics X12 wedges, L-Acoustics Kara II and KS28 side fills, and a multi-channel wireless vocal package supporting the rotating lineup. Limitless also integrated the scenic environments, including a candy-painted slab, within the venue stage and existing house systems. "With the album performed in sequence and artists rotating throughout the night, every department had to move together," says Dash Speer, owner and technical director of Limitless Lights and Sound. "Our job was to make a complex production feel seamless so the audience could stay inside the music." Limitless worked alongside artist-side producer A.J. Niland, ATG Entertainment talent buyer and producer Mark Austin, artist production manager Carl Gatti of RocketMan Productions, and the Smart Financial Centre production team led by production manager Kevin Wiley Watkins to integrate the event production package with the venue's house systems.
