Sensaphonics President Michael Santucci Invited to Address World Health Organization Conference

Dr. Michael Santucci, president and founder of Sensaphonics

Sensaphonics, the music industry leader provider of wellness technology and innovation, announces that company founder and president, Dr. Michael Santucci, has been invited to address global conference on hearing health. The WHO-ITU Joint Stakeholders' Consultation on Safe Listening Devices is part of the WHO "Make Listening Safe" initiative, and will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, October 1 - 2, 2015.

The event is a joint effort of two United Nations agencies: the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Telecommunications Union (ITU). According to the WHO, an estimated 1.1 billion young people are at risk of early hearing loss. The conference will examine a wide range of perspectives on best practices and technology to promote safe listening, and will explore mechanisms and technology to reduce exposure to unsafe sound levels in personal audio devices. Attendees include researchers; audiologists; sound engineers; manufacturers of personal devices, earphones, and headphones; and civil society organizations.

"I am thrilled to attend this conference, and honored to be invited to speak to this select group of stakeholders in the area of safe listening practices and technology," says Dr. Santucci. "Having the opportunity to share my perspective and experience in hearing loss prevention on a global stage is another career highlight for me."

The WHO focuses on international public health issues, while the ITU is concerned with issues related to information and communication technologies. Both UN agencies are headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
