LDI, North America's largest trade show and conference for entertainment design and technology, has expanded into the Latin American market, with its first successful collaboration with sound:check Xpo, a leading audio trade show in Mexico City. LDI presented four successful sessions in lighting and projection, adding these disciplines to the sound:check Xpo! conference.

Under the banner of "Entrenamiento LDI: México," LDI continued its commitment to deliver high-quality professional training to the Latin America market, with four sessions on Sunday and Monday, March 13 - 14, 2016, and a cocktail party attended by 100 people, sponsored by Elation Professional, PK Sound, and Musica Moderna. Over 75 people attended a session featuring Emmy Award-winning lighting designer Jeff Ravitz, who provided a look at his three decades of lighting for Bruce Springsteen. And, over 50 people attended sessions by Valeria Silva of Vari International on the history of concert lighting; by Esteban De La Torre, controller specialist at Elation Professional, who presented a technical session on lighting and video control solutions; and by Sergio Dominguez and Alfonso Ojeda of MALAK, who led a discussion about the differences in running a TV show, a corporate event, and mapping with media servers.

"We are very pleased with the success of our first foray into Mexico City, and the response to our sessions was overwhelming," says David Johnson, LDI's managing director. "There is a great thirst for this kind of information in the Latin American market, and we plan to expand our collaboration with sound:check Xpo in 2017."

In 2015, LDI also launched "LDI en español," a series of sessions in Spanish at the LDI trade show in Las Vegas, and will continue that series again in 2016. "This allows us to not only take our expertise into the Latin American market at shows like sound:check Xpo, but also provide essential training for the Latin American market at LDI2016. This creates an exciting double-pronged approach to serve this market," notes Johnson.

Jorge Urbano, director of sound:check Xpo, adds: "Entrenamiento LDI: México is one of the most important new activities for sound:check Xpo; thanks to LDI we have the best education possible in lighting, projection, and technology for the show business industry...Thank you LDI!"
