ProductionOne Elevates AutoZone Liberty Bowl Halftime Show dBTechnologies VIO Sound

The VIO system's lightweight design ensured even sound throughout the stadium while significantly reducing setup and teardown time compared to previous years, the company says.

For the fourth consecutive year, ProductionOne was selected as the AV provider for the ESPN-televised AutoZone Liberty Bowl Halftime Show. Leveraging the power of the dBTechnologies VIO line array, featuring L1610 arrays and S218 subwoofers, the team delivered sound quality and performance to thousands of fans in attendance.

As specialists in dynamic event production, ProductionOne is recognized for its ability to deliver seamless audio experiences in challenging environments. This year, the company introduced their newly acquired VIO system, which provided flawless audio throughout the pre-game ceremonies and halftime entertainment.

To optimize sound coverage and efficiency, ProductionOne configured the VIO system on six custom carts, each featuring L1610 three-way tops stacked over S218 subwoofers. These mobile systems were rolled onto the field for the national anthem and repositioned for the halftime performance. The VIO system's lightweight design ensured even sound throughout the stadium while significantly reducing setup and teardown time compared to previous years, the company says.

Producing audio for a game halftime show presents unique challenges, as football stadiums rank among the noisiest environments imaginable. The system must be powerful, precise, and reliable; qualities the VIO system exceeded with ease, the company says.

The halftime show featured an electrifying set from Andy Child's Sixwire Band, joined by Felix Cavaliere, lead singer of the legendary Young Rascals. The duo performed classic hits like "People Got to Be Free" and "Good Lovin'."

DJ Thornton, ProductionOne's production manager, praised the system's efficiency: "Individual speaker control, EQ, and level adjustments were amazing. Compared to previous years, I could program the system in 20 minutes instead of two hours. It was flexible and fast."

Scottie Somerville, ProductionOne's lead audio engineer, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the system's remarkable power-to-clarity ratio: "I love the VIO system because I can push it over the crowd without distortion or harshness."

Michael Huff of WorldStrides, the organization responsible for selecting ProductionOne for the halftime show, reinforced the team's reputation: "They're some of the best in the business, and I can always count on them and the equipment they bring to the event."
