Winners of UK's Profile Awards Announced

The Profile Awards, created and coordinated by Durham and Jennie Marenghi in association with the ALPD, the STLD and the ABTT, recognize lighting design excellence in theatre and television in the UK. This year's edition was held on June 4 at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in conjunction with the ABTT Show.

In addition to ten theatre awards and eight TV awards are the Richard Pilbrow Lifetime Recognition Award, sponsored by Theatre Projects, and the Brian Croft Behind the Scenes Award, sponsored by PRG. The Student Virtual Lighting Design competition was sponsored this year by the CAST Group of Companies.

The theatre awards are judged by eight UK theatre critics and are not open to nominations. The television awards are judged by broadcast professionals and nominations are accepted. The awards trophies are Patt 23M fixtures on stands, a miniature LED version of the iconic Rank Strand Patt 23 profile fixture modeled and produced in limited amounts by Hugh Chinnick.

Outstanding Achievement in Opera sponsored by ETC
Jake Wiltshire for Don Giovanni, Waterperry Opera.

Outstanding Achievement in Theatre sponsored by Vari-Lite
Paul Pyant for Summerfolk, Olivier, National Theatre.

Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre sponsored by GLP
Aideen Malone for Into the Woods, The Bridge Theatre.

Outstanding Achievement in Opera sponsored by Fix8 Group
Trui Malten for Imeneo, Cambridge Handel Opera Company.

Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre sponsored by AED UK

Outstanding New Talent in Theatre sponsored by MA Lighting
