Staging Concepts Announces Change to Stage Platforms

Staging Concepts has improved its industry-leading SC90 Platform to meet higher loading requirements. As the International Building Code and customer requirements have made higher loading more important, the enhanced SC90 Platform will now accommodate a load of 150lb per square foot (psf) in a 4' x 8' size, without any additional reinforcement.

The 2012 International Building Code includes new requirements for performance staging, changing the minimum loading requirement from 125psf (610kg/sqm) to 150psf (732kg/sqm). Platforms incorporated into seating risers must support 100psf (488kg/sqm) per the 2012 International Building Code.

The 2012 International Building Code has now been fully adopted in 28 US states. In addition, some local jurisdictions have adopted 2012 IBC where statewide adoption has not yet taken place. The Staging Concepts SC90 Platform with a size of 4' x 8' (1.22m x 2.44m) was originally engineered to support 125psf and needed a reinforcing beam to accommodate higher loading requirements. Staging Concepts has re-engineered the SC90 Platform to meet 2012 IBC's 150psf loading requirement, now negating the need for an extra underside beam. Starting June 1, 2016, all shipments of the SC90 Platform will be supplied with the new design.
