Markey's Adds Possibilities to Inventory with Elation Proteus Rayzor and Fuze MAX Luminaires

Markey's new Fuze MAX Profiles employed at new Proteus Rayzor 760s at 1st Phorm Summer Smash '23.

AV rental and production company, Markey's, has recently added Elation Professional Proteus and Fuze series lighting fixtures to inventory. The purchase of 72 Proteus Rayzor 760, 12 Proteus Rayzor 1960, and 50 Fuze MAX Profile luminaires extends Markey's comprehensive range of lighting options and enhances the company's ability to adequately cover a variety of indoor and outdoor productions.

Founded more than 60 years ago, Markey's has transitioned over the years into a multi-faceted, multi-capable event technology company. Based in Indianapolis with regional offices and warehouses throughout the US, the company is a long-time supporter of Elation and its product lines.

"This latest investment is a wonderful addition to our already large inventory of IP-rated Elation fixtures, which include Proton Eclypse, DTW Blinder 700 IP and Cuepix 16 IP luminaires," states Leon Thompson, director of rental inventory systems at Markey's. "These new fixtures will be used on a variety of Markey's shows including corporate conferences, special events/galas and outdoor events such as commencements and concerts."

The purchase includes the new Proteus Rayzor 1960, Elation's new big brother to the popular Proteus Rayzor 760 LED wash/mid-air/specialty effect light. Bob Horner, VP of corporate development at Markey's, states, "Elation has been a great partner for us and really listened to our needs when designing their new fixtures such as the Proteus Rayzor 1960. It provides us with an outdoor-rated fixture we desperately needed. We have been looking for an IP-rated wash light in this size for years."

The Proteus Rayzor 1960 has all the attributes of the smaller Proteus Rayzor 760 but is punchier at 18,000 lumens from 19 x 60W RGBW LEDs. It can zoom tight or spread wide for even stage coverage and designers can use its individual pixel control to create a variety of aesthetically unique eye candy looks. Like the Proteus Rayzor 760, it houses Elation's exclusive SparkLED background sparkle technology.

Additional to the investment is the Fuze MAX Profile, a full-spectrum LED moving head with RGBMA LED engine (92 CRI) and 21,000-lumens of power that rivals 1000W/1200W class discharge fixtures. It houses a motorized zoom and comprehensive FX package including a full blackout framing system. Horner comments, "The Fuze MAX Profile checks all the boxes for our large corporate, expo and music events all in one great package. The built-in shutters allow for faster set ups, as we now can frame the light from the ground and do not have to touch each fixture after it gets in the air."

Markey's is a company that prides itself on the relationships they build while responding proactively to their clients' needs, attributes that Horner says he sees in Elation. "The team at Elation really cares and tries to develop products that solve our problems on show site," he concludes. "As always, we love working with Elation and the true partnership they provide to Markey's."
