More New Appointments at Harman

Marc Lee Shannon and Rex Reed

Harman Signal Processing announces Rex Reed has been promoted to director of engineering. In his new role, Rex will oversee engineering for the BSS Audio, dbx, Lexicon, and DigiTech brands. He will report directly to John Fitzgerald, vice president and general manager of Harman's signal processing and amplifier business units.

"Rex is a 16-year Harman veteran with a strong track record in engineering and product management and a thorough understanding of all the Harman signal processing brands. We are constantly striving to improve our engineering processes to bring truly innovative products to market as efficiently as possible and Rex's depth of experience makes him the best person to lead these initiatives moving forward," stated Fitzgerald.

Reed joined Harman signal processing in 1996 as a DSP engineer and since then has assumed roles with increasing responsibility within both engineering and product management. Most recently Reed served as business segment director for installed sound and portable PA, directing business and product development for the BSS and dbx brands. He holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University.

Commenting on his new role, Reed said, "Harman's ability to develop leading audio solutions across a range of markets is well known and I look forward to the opportunity to direct our engineering team in a range of new product developments that enhance quality and ultimately drive sales."

In addition, Harman Professional announces it has appointed Marc Lee Shannon as senior manager, business development for its USA regional sales office (RSO). In this role Shannon will focus primarily on sales efforts for AKG professional audio products and will also be involved in brand promotions for other Harman Professional companies. He will report directly to Mark Posgay, senior director, US sales, Harman Professional.

"Marc Lee brings more than 30 years of sales leadership experience to Harman," said Posgay. "His applicative knowledge of microphones and headphones makes him an invaluable asset to our team as we continue to strengthen the presence of AKG across a wide range of pro audio markets."

Previously, Shannon was principal at sales and marketing consulting firm 3thingsinlife and held sales and key management positions at Marshall Amplification, Audio-Technica, and Soundboard Music. Shannon is also an accomplished musician and composer. He attended Musicians Institute and The University at Akron.

"Throughout my career Harman has been a leader in the pro audio and MI markets. I'm eager to get to know our customers and channel partners on a one-to-one basis and to work with them to ensure they are receiving maximum value from their investment in our growing range of product offerings," added Shannon.
