Robert Lorelli Associates, Inc. Forms an Alliance with Theatre Design Inc.

Robert Lorelli and Michael Mell

After nearly four decades of providing theatre consulting services to some 300 projects throughout the world, Robert Lorelli Associates, Inc., Speonk, New York, has established an alliance with Theatre Design Inc., Cold Spring, New York. Under the terms of the agreement, Robert Lorelli Associates will transfer all its projects to Theatre Design Inc., under the leadership of Michel Mell, as of December 31, 2019. Robert Lorelli will be available to provide his expertise to Theatre Design as a special consultant.

The principals of the two firms have a long history of working together. In 1981, Robert A. Lorelli invited Mell, who at the time was a lighting designer and stagehand, to join his firm. Over the years, the two internationally-recognized theatre consultants came to share the same business philosophy -- "to provide each client with the best practical and economical solutions to address their needs."

In 1999, Mell established Theatre Design Inc. Together the two firms have completed an array of projects ranging from community and educational theatres and auditoriums to regional and international performing arts facilities and complexes throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia. Some of their projects include: North York Performing Arts Center, Sala Sao Paolo, Benedum Center, Auditorium Dijon, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Pocono Mountain High School, New London High School, Teatro Municipal de Sao Paolo, University of Florida Performing Arts Center, and City Center/55th Street Dance Theatre.

Many leading architectural firms, among them: Philip Johnson, Cesar Pelli, and Robert A.M. Stern, as well as owners and performing arts groups, have worked with either or both firms throughout the decades. "We believe our practical and cost-effective approach, as well as the success of each project, has led to long-term relationships with many firms and owners," said Lorelli. "This transition is structured to build on our history and to assure past and future clients they can continue to count on receiving quality theatre consulting services going forward," he continued.
