Grund Audio Design Announces GQ Series Loudspeakers

Grund Audio Design GQ Series GQ-12 loudspeaker

Grund Audio Design, a manufacturer of loudspeaker and signal processing products for the audio professional, announces the new GQ Series loudspeakers. Encompassing five new models manufactured using MDF enclosures that are internally braced to ensure cabinet rigidity, the GQ Series loudspeakers are available in passive or active designs and are ideal for use by performing musicians and DJs as well as event production, corporate AV, and education.

The new GQ Series loudspeakers consist of the GQ-10, GQ-12. GQ-15, GQ-153, and GQ-18S. The GQ-10, GQ-12, and GQ-15 are two-way designs that employ a 1" high frequency compression driver with rotatable horns mated to their respective low frequency transducer. The GQ-153 is a three-way design encompassing a 1" high frequency compression driver with rotatable horn, an 8" mid driver, and a 15" low frequency transducer. The GQ-18S is a sub bass system featuring an 18" low frequency transducer in a bass reflex enclosure.

The Grund Audio Design GQ Series loudspeakers are very versatile for a wide range of sound reinforcement applications. The GQ-10 and GQ-12 are not only PA-type enclosures; they can also be positioned on the side for use as floor monitors. The GQ-10, GQ-12, and GQ-15 all have pole cups so that they may easily be mated with the pole cup-equipped GQ-18S subwoofer -- effectively creating a full range "speaker on a stick" setup for projects that require rich full range performance.

All Grund Audio Design GQ Series loudspeakers are finished with a durable, black polyurethane coat as frequently found in spray-on truck bed liners. This protective finish is resistant to scrapes and, equally important, helps protect the inner components by keeping moisture and dirt at bay. The protective finish also maintains its appearance for years.

For the self-powered (active) GQ Series models, power ranges from 200W - 800W. The versatile multichannel inputs found on these amplifiers include an XLR balanced microphone input, a .25" line input, and RCA inputs for use with CD players and similar equipment. Equally notable, any two sources can be mixed internally. With their durable, built-in power amplifiers, the GQ Series active loudspeaker enclosures make a great sounding, versatile PA system that transports easily and simplifies system cabling.

Frank Grund, president of Grund Audio Design, commented on the company's new GQ Series loudspeakers. "Our new GQ Series loudspeakers are extremely versatile, great sounding enclosures that are ideal for everything from mobile DJs and performing musicians through corporate AV and education. The ability to pole mount the GQ-10, GQ-12, or GQ-15 on top of the GQ-18S subwoofer creates an easy to transport, full range sound reinforcement system that delivers a high level of speech intelligibility and clear, natural sounding music reproduction. The powered models have versatile mixing capability that makes them a terrific choice for schools, corporate AV, and education usage. And with their rugged, polyurethane finish, these loudspeakers can easily withstand the bumps and scrapes that loudspeakers typically encounter while retaining their like-new appearance. I'm confident these loudspeakers are well-suited to a wide range of general sound reinforcement applications."

The passive Grund Audio Design GQ Series loudspeakers are expected to be available in first quarter 2014. The Active GQ Series loudspeakers will follow later.
