Frank Luppino, Jr. Passes Away at 90

Frank Luppino

Frank Luppino, Jr. died on Saturday, November 10, 2013 at the age of 90 due to cardiac arrest at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, Illinois.

Luppino grew up in Watkins Glen, New York and attended Alfred University before serving in the Naval Air Transport in Paris, Morocco, and England during World War II. He was a longtime member of the Joseph M. Sesterhenn Post 166 American Legion chapter in Glenview as well as a participant in similar organizations.

He served as associate publisher of Billboard magazine and also worked with similar music and vending industry companies before directing his own corporation, Marketing Insights, Inc. The manufacturing representative firm served the entertainment sound and lighting industry for more than 20 years on behalf of clients such as American DJ, Elation, and others.

Luppino is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Bjorg, daughter Elizabeth F. Daly, and son, Frank Luppino III. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Kristen E. Daly of Glenview as well as Emily, Anthony and Amy Luppino of Beach Park, Illinois. He is the son of the late Frank Luppino Sr. and Anna Johansen Luppino and is survived by a sister, Rosemarie Kleinspehn of Fillmore, New York, and two nieces, Dr. Karen Kleinspehn of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Kim Ann Dennis of North Carolina and their families.

Luppino was known for a love of Dixieland jazz music, including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, railroad memorabilia, PBS TV, and swimming.

Mass and funeral services will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in honor of his years in the music industry, contributions can be made to the Loyola Academy Music Department, care of Corey Ames, 1100 N. Laramie Avenue, Wilmette, Illinois 60091.
