Texas Scenic Company Installs Equipment for Austin City Limits at Moody Theater

Texas Scenic Company (TSC) has completed installation of stage equipment for the Moody Theater in the W Hotel in Austin, Texas.

Designed by BOKA Powell, LLC of Dallas, Texas, the theatre is a live music venue and home of the Austin City Limits music series. But the $40-million venue has transcended its status as the home of TV's longest running music series to become a popular concert venue. In its short existence, it has hosted the likes of Willie Nelson, Steve Miller, Devo, Santana, and Aretha Franklin.

Working with Theatre Consultants Collaborative, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, TSC supplied the stage motorized rigging equipment for the 2,000-plus seat space.

The equipment included Inline motorized drum/block hoists with positioning and presets including: seven units at 3,500lb. capacity, four units at 2,500lb. capacity, and two units at 1,800lb. capacity. A portable Deck Boss motor controller with manual push button back-up panel controls the hoists.

TSC also supplied Tomcat box trussing, three motorized balcony Braille curtains, curtains, and track for VIP rooms and perimeter lighting pipes.

The building was built by Austin Building Company.
