Studio 33 Chooses FBT for the Holidays

Nutcracker shells disquised the speaker system at the ice rink in southern California.

When tasked to create an outdoor ice rink in beautiful, sunny southern California, audio professionals at Studio 33 (www.studio33.net) knew this would be a monumental undertaking for numerous reasons. On the audio front, loudspeakers had previously been mounted to the top of a skate changing station far removed from the rink itself, thus providing inadequate sound for skaters on the rink. Studio 33 confronted this challenge by truly thinking "outside" the box while literally going "inside" a box. The box in question is a custom fabricated covered metal shell, which is painted to look like a nutcracker. Each of these weatherproof boxes contains an FBT PromaxX10a (10" two-way active loudspeaker) which provide excellent coverage and performance to the entire rink and surrounding area. Coupled with several FBT subwoofers, mood lighting, and four synthetic snow machines, Studio 33 has been able to create a perfect atmosphere for ice skating during the holiday season at the Folsom Ice Rink.

Says Brian Jackson, owner of Studio 33, "We at Studio 33 want first-class sound with an out-of-the-normal thinking design, leaving people with the wow factor experience...This job was a hit with our client, skaters, and surrounding vendors alike."
