Stagecraft Institute Partners with American College Theatre Festival

The Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas is set to begin its fifth season of hands on training this June. The Institute is now a partner with Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival, with one student from each KCACTF region -- identified as "the student with the most potential" -- selected to attend a week of his o her choice at SILV this summer on a full scholarship.

Another exciting collaboration born from the KCACTF partnership involves playwright Evan Sanderson, who won the National Student Playwriting Award at the KCACTF National Conference for his script Fallujah. SILV has now selected Fallujah as the inspiration script for this summer's design charette. The latter is held during the last full weekend of classes and evolves as an intensive concept project that will culminate in design presentations and a showcase presentation. The project includes development of production concepts for sets, costumes, lights, effects, props, and sound. The charette will be led by award winning designers and directors including Don Childs, Jon Farris, Jon Forbes, Brian Gale, Linda Leonard, Evan Sanderson, Cindi Turnbull, Eric Mongerson, and the staff of SILV.
