Additional Tony Walton Artwork, Memorabilia Goes to AuctionFollowing an auction in Manhattan last spring, additional artwork and memorabilia by the noted theatre and film production designer Tony Walton will be sold at Lincoln Park, New Jersey-based Willow Auction House. Behind the Curtain: The Tony Walton Collection will take place November 4-6. Items being auctioned on November 4 include early projects from his youth at Slade School of Art, caricatures, designs from the cult musical Valmouth, projection art from the West End revue One Over the Eight, artwork for the Broadway musicals Golden Boy and The Apple Tree, and posters for the films Fahrenheit 451 and Petulia, both of which starred Julie Christie, as well sketches, reference work, and models from the films The Boy Friend and All That Jazz and the musicals Pippin and Chicago. The catalog for November includes a trove of work related to the musical Sophisticated Ladies, models from the musical Woman of the Year, artwork for the Broadway version of The Real Thing, set models from Hurlyburly, plus materials from Anything Goes, Lend Me a Tenor, Six Degrees of Separation, and Guys and Dolls. The sale on November 6 focuses on awards, Playbills, theatre books, a toy collection, and media relating to the career of Julie Andrews (Walton's first wife).
