Mega Systems Helps Bad Bunny Look Great

Bad Bunny in concert.

With the use of MEGA-Lite, PR Lighting, MEGA View, and RGBlink products First Born Productions designed a successful concert for the popular Puerto Rican, Latin trap and reggaeton artist, Bad Bunny. Having earned several top hits on different charts and previously nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards, Bad Bunny and his fans expected a great show to be displayed.

Lighting designer Krizia Velez has been working with Bad Bunny for the past year and visited more than 100 cities. She has worked with many lighting fixtures and well-known suppliers all around the world, but became really impressed by MEGA-Lite products, specifically the latest Circa Scoop LED when it was introduced to her by LDGS Lighting (the production company who produces the Bad Bunny shows outside of Texas). With all of its unique features, Velez called the Circa a "one of a kind unit."

"I came across the Circa Scoop LED while they were being utilized in the Texas tour where I fell in love with the fixture because of the multiple functions it has to offer," said Velez. "The Circa really made good changes to the stage design because of the effects it's able to do."

The Circa Scoop LED is a next-level unit designed with four different elements that can be used in multiple applications. Equipped with 45 WW and amber LEDs located in the unit's center engine it enables the unit to create a nice and warm sunset effect. The "reflective pattern ring" has an additional 87 WW LEDs, which creates a nice soft-edged effect. The Circa also features an inner ring which has 144 RGB LEDs with eight segment control. The Circa also features the capability to control the macro speed and dim down different colors enabling it to set a wide mixture of colors. The outer ring also features eight segments and is equipped with an extra 192 RGB LEDs that illuminate a 140-degree angle. The 336 RGB LEDs can produce multiple color combinations and facilitate the ability to create authentic looks that can be used as dazzling eye-candy effects, just as they were used in the Bad Bunny concert. In addition, the RGB LEDs also produce a bright cool white allowing it to alter the mood and intensify or neutralize a color. The inner and outer rings can generate pulsing random strobe and macro effects giving it the diversity Velez loved about the unit.

"I really liked it because it complies with all the requirements that an illuminator looks for when dealing with a very dynamic show such as this one. I love the effects it produced with the scroll macro and strobe, it's one of my favorite effects," said Velez. "Apart from everything, it is a luminaire that can be used to illuminate any stage with its different effects and shades of white. The LED ring on the exterior make this unit unique and added a special touch to our Bad Bunny show. On my behalf I highly recommend this products, you wouldn't regret the purchase."

Along with the Circa, several XS LED Strobe W were placed in the center of the stage to exaggerate the strobing effect and create a luminous wash in certain songs. The XS LED Strobe W is an immensely bright, versatile fixture that is equipped with a total of 324 White SMD LEDs. This unit can operate as a wash, strobe, or blinder light and has three and nine segments of control.

With the use of several PR Lighting units including the XR Beam 300, XLED 1037, XLED 3019, and XLED 336 Velez was able to design a variety of looks for each set. The XR Beam 300 were used at the front of the stage as well as rigged above it. Equipped with 300W platinum 15R lamp and convex lens, this unit produced super-concentrated parallel beams. They were used to create long-throw beams that not only illuminated the stage, but highlighted even the furthest section of the crowd. The XLED 1037 units were rigged above the stage and used to create colorful effects onto the stage and crowd. This moving head has 37 10W RGBW four-in-one LEDs with a 13- to 52-degree zoom that enabled the fixture to be used to highlight Bad Bunny and his dancers at all times. Its linear color mixing and dimming combined with the effects of the XLED 3019, assisted in creating smooth and stunning color combinations. The XLED 3019 consists of 19 20W RGBW four-in-one LEDs. It offers a variable beam ranging from 7- to 42-degrees that can be used to project a wide beautiful even wash, ideal for large stages such as the one used in this concert. The compact but powerful XLED 336 was used alongside the rest of these units to create a dramatic visual impact. Rigged above and on the stage, it was used to create various color combinations. The PR Lighting units came together to design an eye-dazzling display throughout the concert.

The light show was further enhanced by the special effects that the H5 Hazer offers. This powerful hazer creates haze with long hang times and even particle dispersion. It was able to quickly produce the amount of haze that was needed when used to add a dramatic effect to beats of some of the songs. Each time the hazers went off, the crowd reacted to them by cheering louder and singing along with the songs.

With the use of the MEGA View Phantom Panel 3.9 First Born Productions was able to bring the content to life. Two separate displays of the 3.9mm were placed on the left and right side of the stage. These were used to show a clear picture of Bad Bunny on stage at all times. It allowed the audience to witness the performance all throughout the show, even when Bad Bunny jumped off stage and into the crowd. Some of the panels were also placed on the steps and added a unique effect when the scenes began to change with each song. This ultra-vivid display is designed for indoor productions such as this concert and has a high contrast display that was used to create different illusions and visuals that complimented the entire performance.

The RGBlink Venus X1, Venus X2, and MSP 200PRO were used to control the video wall. The Venus X1 is a multiple outputs video processor that accepts a wide variety of video signals. Combined with the Venus X2 which accepts an even more advanced variety of video signals they were able to combine truly seamless, fade in / fade out, glitch-free switching with advanced technologies to meet the requirements of this high-quality, high-resolution presentation. The MSP 200PRO enabled the ability to waveform and video monitor. Its time code can be generated and displayed which allows inspection frame delay. These products worked together to help ensure the video wall content was to the standards of the performance and audience.

With MEGA-Lite, PR Lighting, MEGA View, and RGBlink products any type of production design can be achieved. With each product adding its own unique effect and capability, MEGA products helped in the production of yet another astonishing show.
