Vectorworks Celebrates Innovation at Prolight + Sound 2018

Gerhard Krude, Dr. Biplab Sarkar, and Josef Valchar together after the press briefing in the Vectorworks' stand about General Device Type Format during Prolight + Sound.

Last month, the annual Prolight + Sound show took place in Frankfurt, Germany, with over 90,000 visitors from 152 countries. This event brought Vectorworks colleagues together to share the latest and greatest in entertainment design.

"We were thrilled about the fantastic booth attendance," said Andreas Thierer, marketing director of ComputerWorks, the Vectorworks distributor for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. "An impressive number of Vectorworks users from all over the world came by to share their experiences and ideas. The show was a great opportunity for us to present the newest features of our products to customers and prospects."

Vectorworks Spotlight is the standard for lighting and set design, a fact that was passionately emphasized at this year's Prolight + Sound show during presentations by Staatstheater Stuttgart Set and lighting designers Rudiger Benz and Jorg Schuchardt, DeerSoft GmbH managing director Moritz Staffel, and CADLIFE GbR managing director Marvin Sauberlich.

In a demonstration in the Vectorworks stand, Spotlight product planner Brandon Eckstorm and senior entertainment product specialist Jim Woodward shared how to use the add-on module Braceworks and the real-time pre-visualization software Vision as a perfect match.

"Overall, the response from attendees was great," said Eckstorm. "People were very happy and surprised by how far Vision has come in just a few years, especially when they were informed that it has had an almost 2,000-percent increase in frame rate in one of our test files when compared to older versions."

Along with a heavy focus on Vectorworks Spotlight, Braceworks, and Vision, the new General Device Type Format (GDTF) was the talk of the show, especially at the press briefing, hosted by Vectorworks senior marketing director Jeremy Powell.

The press briefing panel on GDTF included Vectorworks CEO Dr. Biplab Sarkar, along with GDTF partners, Robe lighting CEO Josef Valchar and MA Lighting Technology managing director Gerhard Krude. The briefing was packed full of eager users, according to the company, and attendees' energy and interest in Vectorworks' software was felt throughout the whole show room.

Since the start of this collaboration, many more companies have hopped onto the GDTF train. You can see the full list at http://www.gdtf-share.com/?cont=who.
