Theatre Projects Welcomes Paul Brewster McGinley to Expanding Strategy & Operations Team

If you stop by the Theatre Projects NYC office this summer, you'll notice a few new desks and a few new faces -- signs of expansion within the company and of new opportunities for the larger Theatre Projects community. And among all this new is their most recent hire, Paul Brewster McGinley, an arts educator, organizational strategist, and seasoned facilitator who brings his welcomed expertise to the growing Strategy & Operations team.

McGinley joins Theatre Projects as the company finds more and more ways to craft solutions for clients at all stages in their lifecycle, and his practice of openness and inclusion, promoting actionable DEIA, and including historically excluded voices in strategy and planning offers meaningful resonance with Theatre Projects values and their clients' needs.

"I'm thrilled that Paul has joined our team. His expertise as a former managing director, educator, and facilitator allows us to continue offering tested insight to clients on the East Coast and nationwide," offers Gena Buhler, Theatre Projects associate principal and head of Strategy & Operations. "Regional theatre companies and arts organizations of all kinds are facing reinvention. On the Strategy & Operations team we are thinking deeply and engaging with clients to proactively respond to industry changes, and Paul's interest in supporting organizations today and into the future is a great fit with our efforts."

McGinley's personal and professional history offer him unique insight into the state of American arts and culture spaces and the communities surrounding them. He comes to Theatre Projects from Roundabout Theatre Company and has produced work at venues including Lincoln Center, Park Avenue Armory, and Classic Stage Company. Paul has also served as an educator at City College of New York and Disney Theatrical Group, among many others.

"It's an honor to join Theatre Projects amidst this inflection point for arts & culture organizations," says McGinley. "I look forward to centering local communities and collaboratively devising strategic solutions to complex problems."

McGinley's experience ties together production, arts management, teaching, and the direction of planning and operations initiatives -- all drawing from a background as both an inclusive theatrical devisor and a thoughtful, data-minded arts manager. He holds an M.A. in educational theatre and a B.F.A. in film & television production from New York University, is a member of many professional arts and education membership organizations and associations, and participates regularly in trainings on equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

"Gathering spaces are essential for communities to exchange stories and ideas," adds McGinley. "I look forward to serving clients engaged in complex decision processes, centering local voice, and leveraging data to evolve spaces that will serve the future of arts and culture."
