Simon Hicks Joins LightGeist as Director of Software Products

Simon Hicks, LightGeist director of software products

UK-based LightGeist, specialists in cloud-based audience engagement products for live music and sport events, has announced the appointment of Simon Hicks as director of software products. An experienced product development manager and software engineer within the industry, Hicks will be responsible for the continued development of software for LightGeist's future product roadmap.

Hicks gained experience as a software engineer with Carallon Limited, developing cutting-edge products for leading industry clients, before branching out into product management for Pharos Architectural Controls, where he later joined the board as technical director.

"I'm thrilled to have Simon come on board the team," says LightGeist CEO Liza Sutherland. "LightGeist has developed, and will continue to build, exciting new audience engagement products for live entertainment. Simon's talents in product development, coupled with his experience of the lighting industry, make him perfectly suited to lead our new development program across cloud and mobile platforms."

While at Carallon, Hicks worked on the software within the ETC Unison Paradigm system and the Martin Professional P3 System Controller. During his tenure with Pharos, Hicks was responsible for the development and release to market of the award winning Pharos Touch Panel Controller. He also developed key business relationships, focusing particularly on Pharos OEM customers, while providing consultancy for the lighting control systems of many landmark architectural and themed entertainment installations.

"I'm delighted to be part of LightGeist," comments Hicks. "It's an exciting time to join them as they bring their cable-free lighting products to market. The team is a real powerhouse of innovation -- I'm relishing the opportunity to work alongside them in creating their future products."

LightGeist was founded in Edinburgh, UK by Liza Sutherland, Nigel Hedley, and Clovis Younger to offer unique cableless lighting displays to the music, entertainment, sporting, corporate and retail markets. Simon Hicks will be based in London.
