In Memoriam: Curry GrantLighting&Sound America has learned of the passing on May 3 of concert lighting legend Charles "Curry" Grant. His age has been reported as 73. Best known as Fleetwood Mac's longtime lighting designer, he also worked with Stevie Nicks, Aerosmith, Hall & Oates, and Whitesnake. He reportedly was the inspiration for the songs "You Make Loving Fun" and "Songbird" from Fleetwood Mac's album Rumors. In 2004, he joined Production Resource Group (PRG) through its merger with Vari*Lite Production Services (VLPS), continuing his work from the Los Angeles office. As vice president of concert touring, he was involved in innumerable concert touring projects. In a statement, PRG says, "We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Curry Grant -- a loving father and grandfather, a legend in live music, and a beloved member of the PRG family. We extend our deepest condolences to Curry's family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working beside him. His legacy will live on in our industry and in the lyrics of some of the most beloved songs of the 70s (IYKYK)." Grant is survived by his son, Skyler Grant; daughter, Lindsey Annotti; the mother of his children, Lorraine Grant; grandson, Aiden Annotti; granddaughter, Maisie Grant; sister, Cindy Anderson; daughter-in-law, April Grant; and son-in-law, Branden Annotti. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 8, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo, California. A reception celebration of Grant's life will immediately follow at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.
