USITT17: Meet Alcons In St Louis

Alcons Audio USA returns to the annual USITT conference and stage expo in March, showing and demonstrating products from across its pro-ribbon product lines.

Taking place from the 8th - 11th of March, the 57th annual USITT event brings companies from throughout the theatre industry to the America's Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, Missouri.

Alcons' presence in the US theatre industry is growing, this currently includes a Broadway presence on Hamilton: An American Musical, Dear Even Hansen, and Amélie, as well as a separate production of Hamilton running in Chicago and the show's first US tour, which starts in San Francisco on March 10th.

Visitors can experience the power and clarity of Alcons systems at the Live Sound International (LSI) Loudspeaker Demo -- aka The Ultimate Loudspeaker Experience -- from 11:00 AM through 5:00 PM March 9th and 10th, during the show in the Ferrara Theater, a 1,400-seat, state-of-the-art proscenium venue.

On demonstration at the event for the first time will be the LR18 compact-midsize line array, complemented by BC543 very high output cardioid subwoofers. Making a return to the loudspeaker demos will be the LR7 micro line array with BF151 MkII compact subwoofers. The systems will be powered by Sentinel10 amplified loudspeaker controllers.

Designed for medium to larger applications, the LR18 is a three-way system, combining the highest sound quality possible with very high SPL capabilities and throw, the company says. The cylindrical wavefront of the bespoke RBN702rs, 7", pro-ribbon transducer and the acoustically and electronically symmetrical component configuration delivers a super-fast impulse response with up to 90% less distortion, the company says.

Thanks to its RBN401 pro-ribbon driver on a "Morpher" lens, the micro-sized LR7 delivers amazing power, intelligibility and throw for its size, the company says, while offering maximum gain-before-feedback, up to directly under the array. The weight-saving, all Neodymium drivers help to make the system very easy to handle and the ideal compact main system for theatre or other events where sound reproduction is required with minimal sightline obstruction.

Individual Alcons demonstrations will take place at 12.30pm on Thursday March 9th and 3pm on Friday March 10th, with the Alcons systems also participating in the full demo sessions at 11am, 2pm, and 4pm on both days. Attendance at the demo is free, with registration via http://www.usittshow.com

Alcons Audio managing director Tom Back, North American sales manager David Rahn and US operations manager Pauline Ortiz y Pino will all be present on the company's Booth #1731, where products on show will include VR8 compact versatile monitors, QR24 modular scalable column arrays, RR12 point source array modules, BF151 compact subs, and Sentinel10 amplified loudspeaker controllers.

"We are pleased to be able to visit USITT annually and demonstrate that Alcons not only manufactures loudspeakers of exceptional audio quality for front of house systems, but that our pro-ribbon technology can deliver that intelligibility, power, and seamless coverage to virtually any application," says Rahn. "We are looking forward to USITT visitors experiencing the LR18 for the first time and are sure that it will gain many fans in the US theater market."
