Lucille Lortel Nominations Announced

The nominations have been announced for the Lucille Lortel Awards, which honor achievement Off Broadway. Leading the nominations were the musical A Strange Loop about the travails of a young, black, gay man, and the drama Heroes of the Fourth Turning, about a group of conservative Roman Catholics, receiving seven and six nods, respectively. Both were produced by Playwrights Horizons. Also earning six nominations was the musical In the Green, about the medieval mystic Hildegard von Bingen, product by LCT 3 Theater. Earning five nominations each was the Public Theater revival of for color girls..., the Public's production of the David Henry Hwang -- Jeanine Tessori musical Soft Power, and Dave Malloy's a cappella musical Octet.
