Big House Sound Helps Round Rock Express Deliver Clear, Quality Sound

American Rugby Men's Championship at Dell Diamond on opening night, February 12, with USA defeating Brazil.

Austin's own Big House Sound has completed installation of a new audio system at Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express, the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate. With Round Rock promoting itself as the "Sports Capital of Texas," Big House Sound wanted to design and install a sound system that would live up to the name. Dell Diamond, an 11,000 seat facility, hosts college and international sports, community recreation, and entertainment events.

Dell Diamond opened in 2000 as home to the Round Rock Express, originally the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. With Round Rock growing and attracting more visitors, the city wanted to make improvements to keep Dell Diamond a main tourist attraction while they are visiting the bourgeoning city.

Big House Sound designed and installed the system over a period of six months and launched it into action on February 12th for the Americas Rugby Championship match between USA Rugby and Brazil Rugby.

"The new audio system brings clear, quality sound to every seat in the park," said Express president Chris Almendarez. "Dell Diamond has always been a genuinely versatile venue, but now we can offer Texas-class sound. The new sound system will really enhance the overall experience of our guests."

"We are very pleased with the results of the new system at Dell Diamond. Honestly, the clarity and fidelity exceeded our expectations and the coverage throughout the ballpark is absolutely seamless. We're excited to join the Round Rock Express for opening day," noted Zach Richards, director of installations, Big House Sound, Inc.

The Round Rock Express' season starts on April 6 with their game against the Nashville Sounds.

The stadium's 18-year-old sound system was replaced with d&b audiotechnik, QSC, and Community loudspeakers. All audio and DSP throughout is QSC's QSYS CORE system via fiber network with redundant processing and analog backup lines.

Big House Sound is a full-service audio installation and concert company serving Austin and Texas since 1991. Big House installed the sound system at the ACL Live at Moody Theatre and recently completed the audio upgrade at Rice Stadium in Houston.
