RC4 Wireless Opens Warranty Contest to Creative ConsumersRC4 Wireless has officially opened its new warranty contest, in which particularly cheeky customers can submit what they believe should not be covered in the contract. The company says it realizes all warranties must be limited with carefully considered boundaries and restrictions on what can be sent back for free repair, but company president James David Smith adds that he has "an unusual aversion to lawyers and legalese. I don't want a team of ivory-tower attorneys coming anywhere near my business policies and practices." The company offers the following examples as submissions: "RC4 Wireless will not provide warranty service for units that have been operated under water;" "If you decide to do your own repairs with a blow-torch and plumber's solder, we're not fixing that mistake for free;" and "Do not flood your RC4 dimmer with gasoline and set it alight; you will be saying 'Bye, bye' to that one, end of story." Up to five submitters whose entries are published in the warranty will receive an RC4Magic DMX2dim dimmer pack, a $429 value. RC4 Wireless' new warranty terms will be unveiled at the USITT Stage Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from March 20 - 24, 2013 and entries must be submitted and reviewed before then. Entries can be submitted along with contact information to notcovered@theatrewireless.com. The company says any entries submitted via Facebook or other public forum will not be considered.
