CDC eight Mixes Block Party for WFX

AE Global technical director and mix engineer, David Bonilla with the CDC eight mixing the WFX Block Party.

CADAC exhibited at the recent WFX - Worship Facilities Conference and Expo in Dallas, Texas. Moreover, the company supplied its latest CDC eight-32 digital mixing console for use by AE Global Media on sound production for the keynote presentations, 2014 Worship Facilities Awards and WFX Block Party, led by worship leader and Christian recording artist Ricardo Sanchez.

The CDC eight was specified on-site by AE Global Media executive production manager Trey Blair, while technical director and mix engineer for the event was David Bonilla: "My experience with the console was very positive. I had never been on the console prior to the WFX event and the crew from Cadac guided me through just a simple overview. I felt pretty comfortable getting around it with no problems and I was able to get through the sound check without a hitch."

"The CDC eight is very versatile and the functionality very intuitive. The touch screens are really nice and gave me good feedback with the information I needed when it came to mixing live. I really loved the 'VCA spill' feature, and once I got my VCAs set up I could mix the individual channels within the VCAs very easily. The quality of the audio was very smooth and warm. The pre-amps are extremely natural and I just loved how I could really hear the slightest adjustments. The compression was also very smooth and natural, but just there when it was needed. I really fell in love with the built in FXs. For me this can make or break a sound; with the CDC eight I just inserted some FXs, without any major adjustments, and they sounded amazing. Very natural and clear."

Speaking for Cadac, US general manager Paul Morini summed up the company's experience at WFX Expo and Conference and Expo: "WFX was a very successful show for us. We have made inroads into the worship market, especially with the CDC eight console, and attendees were especially impressed with how incredibly intuitive the user interface is."

"Intuitive is a word that is very over used in relation to mixing consoles but in the case of the CDC eight it is uniquely applicable, as demonstrated when we partnered with AE Global Media who used it front-of-house in the keynote and worship hall. Front-of-house engineer, David Bonilla, was faced with a console he had not seen before and within an incredibly short time frame he had created an impressive sounding mix. The event also showcased the CDC eight's astounding sound quality; coupled with its exceptionally simple to use control surface, this makes it a perfect solution for the worship market."

"The AE Global Media partnership was a prefect showcase, which, along with the strong showing on our booth, sent a clear message that Cadac is a new force in the worship sector."
