Barrymore Awards Given Out

The Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre, which honor achievement in the Greater Philadelphia theatre scene, were given out November 5. Luke Cantarella took the award for outstanding scenic design for Morning's at Seven, Paul Osborne's classic 1939 comedy, at People's Light and Theatre Company.Theresa Ham was cited for the costume design of Something Wicked This Way Comes, a new musical based on the Ray Bradbury novel, at Delaware Theatre Company; the show also took the prize for outstanding media design, by Freckled Sky, Front Pictures, and Shawn Sagady. The Earl Girls Award for Outstanding Lighting Design went to Maria Shaplin, for Henrik Ibsen's The Wild Duck, at Quintessence Theatre Group. The Bauder Audio Award for Outstanding Sound Design was given to Michael Kiley for The Gap, Emma Goidel's contemporary comedy, at Azuka Theatre.
