GoVision Acquires Assets of Events Cable and Sound

Chris Curtis and Bob Bockhold, GoVision LP

Already a production-services provider in the golf tournament space, GoVision LP announces that the company has expanded its offerings by acquiring the assets of Events Cable and Sound LLC (ECS).

Based in Napa, California, Events Cable and Sound was founded in 1996 by industry veteran Bob Bockhold while he was working full-time providing cable and sound systems for the PGA Tour. Bockhold joins the GoVision team as manager of technical services sales for golf.

"Bob has a long and distinguished career in service management at the top levels of golf, and he has built ECS into one of the most respected AV and multi-media solutions providers in the business," said Chris Curtis, founder and CEO of Argyle, Texas-based GoVision, a premier, full-service provider of large-scale LED video displays and related services, including production, creative content, custom design, fabrication, and installation. "This acquisition adds significantly to GoVision's already-growing tournament services capabilities for our clients in golf and other sports, and Bob will be an important addition to our world-class team."

With more than 25 years and roughly 900 tournaments under his belt, Bockhold has installed and operated some of the largest media centers in golf. ECS has served nearly 40 golf tournaments a year, and has enjoyed working with such clients as the PGA Tour, IMG, Octagon, USGA, Greg Norman Productions, and many charity-owned tournaments.

"I'm very excited to be stepping up to work with Chris and a great company like GoVision," said Bockhold. "Not only do they provide much-needed infrastructure support and overhead cost savings, but they are clearly among the best of the best in the business. Like us, GoVision has an extensive network in the golf industry; so by joining together, we can offer our clients the most comprehensive array of services available under one roof."

Events Cable and Sound boasts an impressive list of industry milestones, including:
• First leaderboard displayed on television (1996)
• First Flash interview (1998)
• First three-way live press conference (1998)
• First satellite based high-speed wireless Internet (US Open - 2006)
• First wireless headphones for 500 members of the media (US Open - 2008)

Bockhold began his career in electronics at the age of 21, working as Channel Master rep for the San Francisco Bay Area, where he trained television dealers how to build and install 12-channel cable systems. In 1976, he started his first company, Commercial Electronic in Napa, California, which specialized in installing cable systems in commercial buildings and housing projects. When the PGA Tour came to Napa in 1988, Bockhold installed his first cable system to supply ESPN for the event, which provided the springboard for the next stage of his career focused on media innovations in the sport of golf.

The ECS transaction gives GoVision another physical presence on the West coast, following its 2014 acquisitions of the assets of Los Angeles-based InnoVision Media Group and Portland, Oregon-based Graystone Media. It is GoVision's fourth acquisition in the last 24 months.
