Nevin Steinberg to Depart Acme Sound Partners

Broadway sound designer and founding member Nevin Steinberg will depart Acme Sound Partners, the prolific sound design company for Broadway shows and live music and theatre events, on January 1. He has been with Acme for 11 years.

Steinberg will begin working independently on Broadway and in other markets. Acme Sound Partners will continue to provide sound design services for Broadway shows, touring productions, and other live music and theater events.

Steinberg will continue to serve as lead designer for Acme on projects previously scheduled prior to his departure, and on running productions for which he is already performing that role. Acme Sound Partners will continue its current business under the supervision of founding partners Tom Clark and Mark Menard, and associate partner Sten Severson.

Acme Sound Partners is currently represented on Broadway by The Addams Family and The Motherf*$ker with The Hat. The firm also continues its long-term relationship with Shakespeare in the Park with its design work on this summer's productions, All's Well That Ends Well and Measure for Measure.

Steinberg said in a statement, "I will always be proud of my time with Acme and our productive partnership over the last 11 years. Transitions are challenging, but I am excited to embark on this next phase of my career. I look forward to continuing my work with the great artists and professionals of this community with renewed dedication and vigor."

Menard stated, "During this transition, Acme Sound Partners looks forward to a second decade of providing exceptional sound design work in all facets of the entertainment industry, and we wish Nevin well on his future projects."

Founded in September of 2000 by Clark, Menard, and Steinberg, Acme Sound Partners has been nominated for four Tony Awards and received three Drama Desk Awards. Past Broadway productions sound designed by Acme Sound Partners include: Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, The Merchant of Venice, Lombardi, Fences, Ragtime, Hair, [title of show], In The Heights, Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Light In The Piazza, Monty Python's Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Boy From Oz, Avenue Q, La bohème, and Elaine Stritch At Liberty.
