Barco Launches Quiet Laser Phosphor Projectors

Barco's PGWX-62L paser phosphor projector

Global projection technology provider Barco launched what the company says is the quietest laser phosphor projectors on the market. Producing less than 35 decibels, meeting participants will hardly hear the projectors are there. Available in two models -- with WXGA or WUXGA resolution -- they produce "laser-sharp" images with sensational colors for unfailing performance. Their laser phosphor light source offers a 20,000-hour lifetime and takes away the burden of regular maintenance. Designed for meeting rooms, boardrooms, auditoriums, and museums, the projectors are light, compact, and white to blend in everywhere. The 1-chip DLP projectors will be shipping as of April 2015.

"As the technology leader in the field of laser illumination, Barco is expanding its leadership in the corporate AV market by bringing this amazing technology to meeting rooms. For many years, we've been investing heavily in this revolutionary technology -- that's why we were also the first to revolutionize the cinema market. Our 4K laser cinema projector is the most compact, high-brightness laser projector available -- and, because it's the best on the block, IMAX selected our technology for its prestigious theaters," proudly explains Wim Buyens, senior vice president entertainment and corporate at Barco. "It was just a matter of time before we expressed our leadership to the corporate AV market as well."

Romeo Baertsoen, VP strategic marketing corporate AV at Barco continues: "With these new additions to our Present-P portfolio, our product offering for the corporate AV market is solid as a rock. Solid-state illumination holds many benefits -- such as solid colors, solid lifetime, and solid installation -- and we are continuously exploring how we can integrate this cutting-edge technology in our projectors."

The projectors' most remarkable feature is that they produce a noise level that's close to that of a whisper -- making them the perfect companions in any meeting. As they can be rotated 360-degrees and support portrait mode, the projectors can be installed in any direction, without any impact on their lifetime. They're compact and light, so users can easily install them anywhere, including a meeting room ceiling. And thanks to their large lens shift range, their images can always be positioned in the right way, even in challenging setups.

The Present-P laser projectors are geared with a laser phosphor light source that offers a long lifetime of 20,000 hours. Another benefit of laser technology is that it eliminates lamp and filter replacements, minimizing downtime, and regular maintenance. The company says this type of light source also leads to reduced power consumption, for an even lower total cost of ownership.

Barco is the only manufacturer that seamlessly integrates a wireless collaboration system and HDBaseTTM technology under the hood of its projectors. When coupled with Barco's ClickShare, the Present-P projectors transform into easy-to-use collaboration devices that enable true teamwork. And as they require minimal wiring, installation is fast, easy and secure.
