Federdanza Turns to RCF for the Italian Dancesport Championships

FIDS Italian Dancesport Championships -- Federdanza, 2018

The curtain has fallen on the Eleventh FIDS Italian Dancesport Championships -- Federdanza, 2018 edition. Twenty-thousand athletes competed. One-hundred and fifty-nine couples took to the floor for the GrandSlam contests: 92 Standard and 67 Latin from a total of 22 different countries. Six themed arenas -- four pavilions of 3,000sqm each and two 1,000sqm theatres, all set up with RCF audio -- with a total attendance of over 220,000 and an average of 20,000 spectators daily. Just over 500 judges and approximately 3,500 medals awarded, with golds, silvers, and bronzes for singles, couples, and groups.

Equipment was provided by two firms, with audio exclusively by RCF. Provinciali SRL took care of the audio for the three main arenas, which occupied one pavilion each. Pierluigi Provinciali, the service owner, describes the set-up: "We installed 12 TTL 55-A and two TTS 56-A for each arena (six modules and one sub on each side), while the two pavilions (Underground Theatre and Broadway Theatre) were set up with 12 HDL 10-A (six on each side) and two TTS 56-A subs, all managed by a team of six technicians. We needed outstanding sound consistency across the dance floor and the audience. The new TT series firmware with the FiRPHASE processing really made the difference on this occasion too. The performers moving around the dancefloors had a consistent reference and there was no obvious comb filtering anywhere in the dance area. This meant the dancers could focus on their performance without distraction."

In addition to taking care of the lighting and video set-up, Ivan Gatti Produzioni SRL's team of 16 professionals also equipped the Federsport area with EVOX 5 and the Blue Pavilion (International) with 24 HLD 20-A and four SUB8006-AS subwoofers. Ivan Gatti commented, "we worked constantly for the entire duration of the event, with commitment but also great satisfaction. RCF systems are extremely simple to assemble and configure, and they met the needs of the artistic production perfectly. In a dance contest, music is a fundamental component -- it must be as intelligible as possible, and clearly reach the audience. We were particularly happy with the results."
