K-array Gear Installed at Capitale New YorkCapitale New York occupies the former Bowery Savings Bank, built in 1895, one of Manhattan's most striking Beaux-Arts interiors. Venetian glass, marble mosaic floors, Corinthian columns, carved limestone, and a 65' ceiling define the space, making it a preferred venue for star-studded events, glamorous weddings, and the city's most elite fundraisers. When hospitality operator Ilya Zavolunov acquired the property, he wanted to preserve the grandeur of the room while improving its technical framework. Audio had been a challenge in the main hall. The scale of the space, the reflective surfaces, and the varied event formats called for an adaptable system with controlled coverage for the main ballroom as well as the smaller event spaces. The goal was to deliver modern production capability without disrupting the character of the building. Capitale's opulent 15,000-sq.-ft Grand Ballroom hosts 700 seated guests or up to 1,500 standing with two private 2,000 sq. ft. suites on the second floor. Any new system needed to support those volumes with clarity across multiple zones. Integrator DRVCS AV, led by Davel Rodriguez, selected a suite of K-array solutions tailored to each area of the venue. The centerpiece is the Mugello KH3 line-array system paired with Mugello KS5 subwoofers. Though not intended to be invisible, Mugello's slim form factor allows it to hang cleanly from the truss structure without competing with the ornate ceiling. Its power density, intelligibility, and precise control make it suitable for live events, DJs, and corporate productions in complex architectural spaces. The VIP areas in the main ballroom, left and right of the main vault, have Dragon KXT18P tri-axial speakers providing a refined club experience. Secondary zones, including mezzanine areas, lounges, and VIP rooms, use Kayman KY102W line arrays and Thunder KS3P subwoofers to maintain consistent coverage throughout the zones. The entire system is powered by Kommander KA208 amplifiers, giving the venue plenty of power, trustworthy performance, and one easy place to control all the sound settings, the company says. In a statement, the company says: "The upgrade allows Capitale to support events ranging from fashion shows to galas to high-energy nightlife programming, all while maintaining the integrity of its historic design. Coverage is more even across all seating and standing zones. Mugello arrays deliver high output without overpowering the room. The visual footprint of the system stays controlled and respectful to the architecture. Staff have a streamlined, flexible system capable of handling diverse event requirements."
