Dude Perfect Builds New Headquarters with L-Acoustics Professional Sound Systems Throughout"Five guys" isn't just a burger chain reference. In the case of Dude Perfect, it's a quintet of buddies who came together 15 years ago and successfully turned their love of sports and hanging out into a nine-figure business. Since launching their popular YouTube channel while still college roommates at Texas A&M University, the principal players have posted hundreds of athletic trick shots that have netted them more than 60 million subscribers and a staggering 17 billion-plus views. Recently, Dude Perfect scored a new goal with the opening of DPHQ3, its latest and largest headquarters located in Frisco, Texas. With a floorplan of 80,000 sq. ft., the Dudes' third IRL venture encompasses full-sized basketball, football, golf, and other playing fields that serve as the stages for their zany video shoots. To properly get the group into the game action, Clear ProAV of nearby McKinney was tapped to design and install a building-wide network of audio and video technologies. Sonically, the design has L-Acoustics loudspeakers in dozens of zones throughout the entire facility, helping the sound in each space feel just as "larger-than-life" as Dude Perfect's stunts. To outfit DPHQ3 in a manner worthy of its over-the-top style, Clear ProAV systems engineer Chad Fuller notes that they tackled the task of designing multiple large and complex audio systems using L-Acoustics Soundvision. He describes how speaker groups -- taken from a total of 18 L-Acoustics X12 and eight X8 enclosures, powered by LA2Xi amplified controllers, plus six LA4X-driven SB21i and four LA12X-driven SB15i subwoofers - were installed in the main gym space. These cover the football, basketball, golf, pickleball, and rock-climbing areas with what Fuller calls "stadium-worthy" sound, each area individually zoned to allow for individual playlists for each use. "We gave them the option to be able to play different material in different areas, with six or eight unique audio sources simultaneously - or they can use it as one giant system and really blow it out of the water, audio-wise and decibel-level-wise, if they want," he adds. L-Acoustics loudspeakers are also deployed in many other spaces throughout DPHQ3, including workout and weight rooms, and in the Dudes' own offices, which each have a pair of 5XT speakers and a ceiling-mounted SB10i subwoofer, all connected via AVoIP infrastructure like the rest of the systems. In the executive suite, a pair of L-Acoustics colinear Soka speakers discreetly flank a large video display, while in another space just across the hall, a dozen ultra-compact X4i and two low-profile SB10i subs are suspended from a grid above a common meeting area. "And that's just a fraction of the full system; they are truly decked out with L-Acoustics from top to bottom," says Fuller. Clear ProAV's founder Eric Schell has helped the group with various AV integrations throughout their growth. "They are anything but conventional in everything they do, and that certainly extends to their new headquarters," he shares. "For example, we have implemented an AVoIP infrastructure at DPHQ3 with dozens of audio zones and hundreds of channels of Dante-based audio, primarily with L-Acoustics endpoints. Having reliable infrastructure and the highest quality audio experience is critical for their team and their business operations. In their previous building, they used to cram multiple people inside one of their edit bays to watch an initial edit, but with AVoIP, they're able to pull everyone into one centralized location -- like the owner's lounge, for example -- and the team can be on a comfortable couch with a big 4K LED display and a fantastic L-Acoustics sound system." He adds that the venue is already also being used for a number of other applications, including hosting branded events for corporations, such as Samsung and Google, as well as for nonprofits like the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "They all are using the PA out in the main gym area, and we've heard many comments on how amazing it sounds, especially the low end with all of the subs. There is literally nothing else like this space in the world, and it really has the perfect sound to match that singularity." For more details on Dude Perfect's new DPHQ3, visit www.dudeperfect.com.
