Studio RRD Expands at Union Square with Sales Counter, Gear Showcase, and Previz SuiteStudio RRD, the New York-based lighting design and production studio, is opening a new retail and rental hub at 41 Union Square West, New York City, along with the launch of a professional previsualization suite. The expansion builds on Studio RRD's stewardship of Tribeca Lighting's legacy of serving the New York theatre and arts community, continuing a tradition of keeping professional lighting resources accessible and local for designers, programmers, and producers across the city. Tribeca Lighting, which became part of Studio RRD last year, was founded in 2008 by Brian Aldous, Eva Pinney, and the late Kyle Chepulis, supplying rentals, sales, and consumables to downtown houses, Off-Broadway stages, and emerging companies around town. Studio RRD's Union Square location will open a fully stocked consumables counter, available for walk-in sales Monday through Friday, 11am-5pm, with earlier and later pick-up available by appointment. The location also serves as the designated hub for all pre-arranged rental pick-up and drop-off. The space will also feature a monthly rotating product showcase, allowing visitors to get hands-on with new and featured gear. A once-a-month, open-door Demo Day will be a relaxed, community gathering where anyone is welcome to explore a featured product or product line and connect with fellow lighting professionals. The location's previsualization suite is purpose-built to serve the full spectrum of New York's lighting community, from seasoned designers and programmers to emerging students and first-time clients. It features a rendering workstation running Depence R4, alongside both Eos and grandMA consoles, and is available for half-day and full-day rental at rates designed to be accessible regardless of project scale -- a student's first previz session, a client preview ahead of a major event, or a programmer building a full touring show. "The lighting community in New York is unlike anything else in the world, says Studio RRD founder Bob Ross. "It's built on mentorship, on shared knowledge, on showing up for each other. Tribeca Lighting was part of that fabric for decades. We don't take that lightly. Everything we're building at Union Square -- the counter, the demo days, the previz suite -- it's all in service of making sure this community continues to have a place to call home." Studio RRD will host a celebration marking the opening on Monday, May 11. The public is invited to tour the new space, meet the team, and experience the previz suite firsthand. The Union Square location complements Studio RRD's full-scale production warehouse in Secaucus, New Jersey, which continues to serve as the backbone of the company's rental inventory and large-scale production operations.
