ROE Visual Unveils Sirius at IBC 2026

ROE Visual has announced the launch of Sirius, a frequency-tunable Multi-Mode IC driver. Sirius, the result of two years of development, is billed as one of the industry's few custom-designed LED driver ICs, integrated exclusively into ROE Visual's LED panels.

Powered by Deepsky processing, this unified, proprietary ecosystem will be showcased in a dedicated demonstration room at the ROE Visual stand during IBC 2026, at RAI Amsterdam, September 11-14 . It is engineered to meet the needs of broadcasters, filmmakers, and reference monitor users who require high-end color accuracy.

With both flat and curved variants of the Ruby RB2.2F ready for market, ROE Visual will soon see the first Sirius-powered LED panels enter the market. The technology will also become available on LED panels with lower pixel pitches in the coming months.

For years, the LED industry has mainly relied on third-party, off-the-shelf driver ICs. ROE Visual is among the very few LED manufacturers to break this cycle, developing a custom, exclusive driver IC built to its film- and broadcast-centric specifications. Because Sirius is a proprietary ROE Visual technology, it guarantees a level of hardware-to-panel optimization that cannot be replicated. This exclusivity is said to ensure that only ROE Visual users have access to true native bit depth without the visual dithering workarounds common in standard industry panels.

To satisfy the demands of fast studio cameras, many competitors artificially inflate refresh rates by compromising true bit depth, relying heavily on 6-bit dithering masked as 10-bit PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). Because the Sirius IC is uniquely designed to conform to ROE Visual's specifications, it is said to eliminate this compromise. It provides higher native bit depth, ensuring color fidelity, HDR grayscale patterns, and zero banding, even at micro-luminance levels.

"For years, the industry has relied on dithering workarounds to balance camera performance with low-brightness calibration," says Tucker Downs, R&D specialist at ROE Visual. "With the exclusive Sirius IC driver, we are finally eliminating this. By offering true frequency tunability alongside dynamic current modulation, we're giving filmmakers and broadcasters an LED canvas that flawlessly synchronizes with their camera sensors while maintaining infinite bit-depth at the lowest possible brightness. It's an absolute game-changer for premium studio environments."

Designed exclusively for high-end film and broadcast studios, the ROE Visual LED panels, driven by Deepsky LED processing, with at their core the true frequency-tunable multi-mode driver Sirius, will guarantee zero scanlines. Operating with an ultra-high 15,200Hz base refresh rate, the Deepsky system can adjust the base frequency to perfectly align with any camera's specific frame rate and shutter angle. For example, it can tune seamlessly to match a camera shooting at 60 fps with a 172.8-degree shutter angle. This interoperability with a wider range of camera solutions than ever before, the company says, including complex rolling shutter systems.

The IBC demonstration room will feature the ARRI ALEXA 35 Live, showcasing the camera's ability to capture LED wall imagery in live production with uncompromised image quality. The camera offers the dynamic range required specifically for capturing LED content, enabling it to reproduce the full depth, level of detail, and visual variety of the content without any loss of quality, enabling a truly cinematic live-production experience.

To deliver flawless imagery across the entire brightness range, the proprietary SIRIUS IC blends three drive modes seamlessly:

*PWM (Pulse Width Modulation); ultra-fast pulse control for crisp, flicker-free brightness.

*PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulation); precision current scaling for smooth mid-to-low brightness.

*Continuum: an entirely new way of driving LEDs for ultra-low brightness.

The result: deep blacks, clean fades, and detail that are said to survive from full sun to pitch dark.

Beyond visual performance, the exclusive pairing of the Sirius IC and the ROE Visual Ruby introduces thermal management. Every single proprietary LED driver IC functions as a localized temperature sensor. Driving just 16 pixels per IC (with a 1/8 scan ratio), the system generates an incredibly accurate 16x8 pixel heat map. This data allows the Deepsky LED processor to make real-time corrections, the company says, guaranteeing zero color shift due to temperature fluctuations over long, demanding shooting days.

Attendees of IBC 2026 are invited to experience the Ruby RB2.2F with the exclusive Sirius IC driver and Deepsky LED processing in action, while ARRI's ALEXA 35 LIVE will capture the screen. Visit the ROE Visual stand to enter the special demonstration room. ROE Visual will be in Hall 1D.29.
