Sound Devices to Debut Astral Mini Plus at NAB 2026 Sound Devices will be debuting Astral Mini Plus, the brand's newest compact wireless transmitter pack at the 2026 NAB Show, Booth #6708, from April 18-22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Sound Devices team will demonstrate Mini Plus's new features, alongside the latest updates to the Astral firmware, including AstralComm integration with SoundBase, the universal platform for professional wireless audio frequency coordination and management, and 8-Series integration with the Viviana Cloud system. "As production environments continue to evolve, our focus remains on supporting the core workflows of location sound, broadcast, and live production with tools built to perform at the highest level," says Matt Anderson, CEO of Sound Devices. "The launch of Astral Mini Plus, along with continued firmware development and deeper software integrations, reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that professionals can rely on and that continue to improve over time." The new Astral Mini Plus wireless transmitter builds on the proven success of its lineage, the company says, with a familiar ergonomic form factor and rugged performance while also adding 8+ hours battery life, full 169-1525MHz global tuning range, IP67 water resistance, and improved usability features for faster setup times and seamless operation. These new features are said to ensure the Mini Plus will provide dynamic, crystal-clear audio throughout the most challenging location sound and broadcast productions. Sound Devices has also added a set of new features to its entire Astral Wireless range with the new v8.30 firmware update -- which streamlines Astral's workflow with more flexible routing options and full AstralComm integration with SoundBase. The latter gives engineers a simpler way to monitor and adjust Astral Wireless devices during coordination including changing frequencies, renaming transmitters, and other live management tools keeping essential information visible and easy to access. Finally, the Sound Devices team will also be demonstrating 8-Series integration with the upcoming Viviana Cloud Box 2. For the 8-Series Mixer-Recorders this enables an instant upload feature to the cloud of your choice -- providing a more streamlined workflow and additional backup during critical shoots, the company says.
