ISE2013 is Another Triumph for Alcons

The Alcons Audio team with the CRMScompact (home-)cinema pro-ribbon screen system including Carsten Albrecht, Tom Back, and Niels Janssen.

2013 proved to be another highly successful year for Alcons Audio at Amsterdam's ISE trade show, with audio professionals from across the industry able to both see and hear the breadth of the company's portfolio of pro-ribbon loudspeaker systems.

Alcons showed products in three different locations -- on the company's stand in Hall 6, in the forum room, and at the show's increasingly popular 3D theatre.

One of the highlights of the Alcon's stand was the CRMS compact system. Currently Alcons smallest pro-ribbon cinema system, it was developed in response to requests from the residential market to make pro-ribbon technology available for medium to large home cinemas.

Considerable interest was shown by contractors specifying and install home cinema systems, who were keen to get a preview of the new three-way screen system, for which the new RBN202rs pro-ribbon -- a two-inch high-power pro-ribbon with 350W peak power handling -- was developed.

As well as being shown on the stand, the newly-introduced QR24 pro-ribbon line-source column and award-winning BC332 cardioid directional subwoofer were demonstrated to visitors in the highly reverberant forum room. Driven by the new Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controllers, both impressed show-goers with their sharply-controlled directivity, superior coverage, and resulting intelligibility.

As with previous ISE shows, the 3D theatre saw the latest technologies in 3D being demonstrated. Alcons performed a daily presentation highlighting the "A" in "3D A/V technology," presenting a history of surround sound in professional applications, from its beginning to today's multi-channel surround formats.

The company's Cinema Reference Monitor System (CRMS) was deployed, with 10 pro-ribbon surround cabinets working in a 7.1 surround format. By using the same components for the surround systems as the screen system's mid/high section, a perfect blend between front and surround channels was demonstrated using 3D film Avatar and Precious Life, the collaboration between Alan Parsons and German duo Lichtmond.

Being on "home-turf," the company said they also hosted its annual Alcons ISE dinner, where its international pro-ribbon partners were able to enjoy good food and drink while exchanging ideas and experiences with fellow Alcons users.

"ISE covers a wide range of markets and it is a very good opportunity for us to demonstrate the many applications for which Alcons Audio provides a high quality solution," says company co-founder Tom Back. "The 2013 show was our most successful yet and we have already committed to exhibiting same spot at ISE next year."
