Sommer Introduces SC-Binary 225 Digital/Analog Cable Sommer Cable has introduced the new SC-BINARY 225 digital/analog AES/EBU and DMX cable with soft HTPE jacket. The company says its surface is supple and flexible but houses impressive technical specifications and can be used as a consistently reliable microphone, AES/EBU and DMX cable. Sommer's new SC-BINARY halogen-free, highly water-repellent and UV-resistant soft HTPE outer jacket (Ø 6.7 mm) was specially developed for Sommer and is non-toxic, easily degradable and recyclable. Underneath its soft shell, it has been thoroughly field-tested to be durable and guarantee excellent handling in demanding daily use. In a statement, the company says, "Whether onstage, in the studio or in permanent indoor or outdoor installations, the cable is easy to reel and unreel, and impresses with its low-stretch, durable construction, which also prevents unwanted tangling or slipping of the wire pairs." The cable is protected by double shielding of aluminum-coated fleece and a dense copper braiding to ensure reliable protection against external interference, even with longer cable runs and in demanding environments. Inside is a supple, high purity 6N copper (OFC 99.9999 %), which, the company says, guarantees an incredibly high number of bending cycles and an extremely long service life. The product is mainly designed for networking scanners, lighting systems, and digital mixing consoles as well as for connecting digital audio amplifiers, and is equally suitable as a ready-made connection cable. Sommer recommends the version with HICON XLR connectors in a conductive metal housing (art. no. BEGS-0100-SW). For accurate goods and inventory management, a version with an integrated Relyos chip is also available (art. BEGSS0100-SW).
