Winners Announced for Lucille Lortel Awards

The 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards, which honor achievement Off Broadway, were announced last night.

In the design categories, the winners included Lauren Helpern, for the scenic design of 4000 Miles, at Lincoln Center Theatre, and Esosa, the costume design of By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, at Second Stage Theatre.

The lighting category produced a tie: Natasha Katz, for Once, produced by New York Theatre Workshop and now on Broadway, and David Weiner for Through a Glass Darkly, produced by Atlantic Theatre.

In the sound design category, Matt Tierney and Ben Williams shared the award for The Select (The Sun Also Rises), a presentation of Elevator Repair Service, produced at New York Theatre Workshop.

The award for outstanding play went to Sons of the Prophet, produced by Roundabout Theatre Company. Outstanding musical was Once. And outstanding revival was The Cherry Orchard, produced by Classic Stage Company.
