Elation Launches PROTEUS ATLAS The latest in Elation's line of long-throw beam lights with its LILI (laser-illuminated lighting instrument) light engine, the PROTEUS ATLAS is, the company says, comparable to 7K xenon searchlights while operating at a fraction of the power. The PROTEUS ATLAS is engineered to conquer vast distances and paint the sky with precision, empowering designers to light boldly at scale. The LILI light engine is billed as producing a bright, dense, xenon-style beam with sharp definition. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications, the product delivers 1,000,000 lux @ 20m (100,000 lux @ 100m). The ultra-narrow beam projects from a 12.5" front lens as a massive column of light. The LILI engine offers a life of 12,000 hours without significant degradation in brightness or quality, the company says. Eric Loader, global vice president sales, comments, "LILI sources will continue to drive innovation in our lighting products. These laser-based technologies are set to improve energy efficiency, light quality, and adaptability, allowing for more creative and high-performing solutions across the entertainment lighting industry. They provide the ideal output for longer throw distances with lower energy consumption, extended lifespan, and reduced maintenance compared to traditional short-arc discharge lamp sources." Housing a 500W LILI light engine, the PROTEUS ATLAS's 0.6-degree beam (zoomable to 8.5 degrees) works with a full range of fixtures. These include full CMY color mixing and a 25-position color wheel, a system that, the company says, is lightning-fast for immediate color transitions and instant color bumps. A selection of 13 interchangeable-rotating/indexing metal gobos and 26 static-stamped metal gobos offers an array of creative aerial possibilities. Multiple prisms divided between overlapping planes split beams in virtually unlimited combinations. Beam control is provided through a zoom and focus lens array, while dual frosts (hot-spot beam, wash FX) soften the beam when needed. Dimming is ultra-smooth without flickering, the company says. Also featured is endless 360-degree pan movement. The PROTEUS ATLAS includes Elation's Sky Motion system, allowing it to operate as a searchlight effect without the need for a dedicated lighting controller. Multiple fixtures can be seamlessly interconnected, while a variety of movement patterns are easily adjustable in size, speed, and color directly from the display. The Sky Motion system allows for stand-alone operation and is easy to set up and adjust directly from the fixture display, even for non-lighting users. The unit's rugged aluminum shell and advanced marine-grade coating provide operational reliability in demanding outdoor and indoor environments. With an IP66 rating and sealed optical system, it stands firm against rain, snow, coastal air, and humidity. Its high-speed motors, continuous pan, and smooth motion architecture ensure fast, fluid performance even in punishing environments, the company says.
