K-array Provides Solutions for Fellow Florentine

KU210

When concept store Move On opened its doors in March, it was apparent that its location would play a key role in the store's layout and overall ambiance. Nestled in the heart of Florence, the contemporary vinyl records store and craft beer brewery can call K-array neighbors. Operating as a record store on the top level and a pub on the bottom, Move On's multi-concept approach meant different audio installations would be required to meet the different needs. For owner Andrea Bracali, K-array was the obvious choice: "Being from Florence and working in the music industry, we knew of K-array and their products and thought they would be perfect for our project. After visiting their factory and testing their products, I knew we had made the right decision."

K-array used Ease software to simulate the acoustics in every room to calculate the pressure (SPL), intelligibility (STI), and other parameters to determine the appropriate speaker model and guarantee full audio coverage in the store, rendering eight KT2 and four KT2C Tornado speakers with four KU36 subwoofers the perfect solution for the secondary room of the pub along with the corridor connecting it to the main bar. The diffusors were customized with a color coat to match the decor and are driven by one KA84 and one KA24 amplifiers.

"Since we are a record store, we focused on audio quality considering we need to promote every kind of music, from experimental electronic beats to the finest jazz or acoustic folk music," says Bracali.

It was also important to achieve the perfect acoustic balance in the dining area of the pub to add to the ambiance but not interfere with conversations while providing enough sound later in the evenings when the pub transforms into a club and the dance floor gets lively, the company says. Five custom colored KK52 Kobras paired with two KU210 subwoofers were installed and controlled by one of the 3 KA-POT1 knobs provided to adjust the volume separately among the rooms.

"We continue to stay in contact with K-array to keep them updated on their installation. We see some of them even in the store as the stop by for a drink or just to say hello," says Bracali. "We are really satisfied with the final product!"
