Texas Scenic Company Completes Jobs in Puerto Rico

Texas Scenic Company (TSC) has completed installation of stage equipment for two prominent facilities in Puerto Rico: the Conservatorio de Musica de Puerto Rico and the Centro Bellas Artes in Humacao.

Working with Theatre Consultants Collaborative, Inc., Kirkegaard Associates, and Quality Construction Services of Santurce, TSC supplied stage equipment for the state of the art Conservatorio built next to the school's historic site. The facility includes three performance spaces: Sala Jesus Sanroma, a versatile 360-seat recital hall; Sala Junior Soto, a 100-seat choral rehearsal hall; and an instrumental rehearsal hall.

The stage equipment included four Inline zero fleet angle hoists on two electrics for a sound absorptive panel and projection screen. Manual draw acoustical curtains and stage curtains constructed using KM charisma velour were installed. Other equipment included a Wenger pit filler and XSF truss.

The Conservatorio is a well-known public institution founded in 1959 under the leadership of renowned Spanish cellist Pablo Casals.

For the Centro Bellas Artes project, TSC worked with Carlos Betancourt Llambias Arquitectos and Quality Construction Services of Santurce. The architecture features a striking multi-color glass façade with prominent concrete overhangs.

For the facility's main theatre space TSC provided 33 Inline counterweight sets and a motorized fire curtain. The curtain package included a full stage curtain set with KM majestic velour, seamless cyc, and black and white sharkstooth scrim. A Wenger pit filler was also installed.

TSC staff Phil Wilberg, sales and design, and Dave Tegtmeier, project manager, utilized their experience to meet the many challenges presented by these projects including shipping and coordination of the multi-phase construction schedules.
