Philips Reports Positive PLASA Focus Feedback

Ritchie Reed and Amber Tomlin

It may have finished a few weeks ago, but Philips Entertainment Lighting (PEL) is still receiving a steady flow of positive feedback in response to the latest Philips Selecon and Strand Lighting products, exhibited for the first time, at PLASA Focus in Leeds.

Amber Tomlin, recently promoted to UK key account manager for PEL, comments, "PLASA Focus, Leeds was a wonderful opportunity to discuss, face to face, with our UK customers my new role in the company and the benefits it offers them. Even though my job title has changed I'm still very much the same person! However I'll be spending more time developing PEL's UK business in collaboration with our key UK account customers and distributors. I'll also be ensuring customers understand our current and 'new to market' product ranges and what they can offer the end user."

Alongside existing products such as the Philips Strand Palette range of consoles, distributed dimming and power, PEL showcased a number of new LED fixtures. They include the Philips Selecon Wing LED Cyc Light and the PL RGB Striplight.

Ritchie Reed, UK technical specialist for Philips Selecon, reports, "Interest from the show floor in both the PL RGB Striplight and the Wing LED Cyc Light was keen. Since the show closed we've been inundated with enquiries from UK and European visitors wanting more information. They were impressed with Selecon's rapid advancements in high-power LED technology and the huge potential for performance lighting applications. "The Wing LED Cyc Light's multi-ellipse asymmetric reflector combines with the Philips Selecon high performance LED engine to deliver a beautifully blended, homogenous beam of light. Lighting designers can light a cyc using a fraction of the usual energy consumed, without compromising on intensity or color quality, while at the same time dispensing with those quick to burn out saturated gel colors of old. It's a win, win situation."

Complementing the Wing Cyc Light was the PL RGB Striplight. A low profile, robust, high-performance linear LED luminaire, it's ideal for washing large areas such as set and backdrops and features far-reaching, bright rich colors that fade beautifully. Easy to use, the PL RGB Striplight offers a powerful lighting solution in theatres, TV studios, concerts, events, casinos, and exhibitions. Michael Goldberg, marketing manager for Philips Entertainment Lighting EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) concludes, "With the excellent response from Frankfurt Musik Messe and now PLASA Focus firmly under the PEL team's belt we're looking forward to the ABTT show with relish. For two days our friendly and well informed PEL sales and technical team will be ensconced in Lawrence Hall stand 135 demoing PEL's latest products and sharing exclusive 'you heard it here first' news from the company."
