Korn's The Serenity of Summer Tour Rocks America with Morpheus Lights and Ayrton's DreamPanel-Twin

Morpheus Lights returns as the lighting vendor for Grammy-award winning nĂ¼-metal band Korn in support of the 2017 Serenity of Summer tour. The US leg kicked off on June 16th in Salt Lake City, Utah, and wraps up on August 2nd in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Then, the band will head off for dates in Europe.

Lighting designer Thomas "Church" Christmann anchored his current design around an eye-popping composition of 64 Ayrton DreamPanel-Twin luminaires mounted in four 16-unit flying pods custom-manufactured by Gallagher Staging. The design also features Ayrton's MagicBlade-FX and MagicRing-R9 fixtures, along with NandoBeam-S3 and NandoBeam-S9 wash lights. Other luminaires by Chauvet Professional, Martin by Harman, Chroma-Q, and Astera round out the lighting package.

Atmosphere is by MDG and Ultratec. Control is via the Chamsys MQ500. Tyler GT truss and CH Hoists handle the heavy lifting.

Ayrton's DreamPanel-Twin is a hybrid fixture with a 64 x 64 pixel, 6mm pitch, 3500 nit video panel on one side, and an 8 x 8 matrix of 6-degree LED emitters on the other. With continuous pan and tilt, the fixture offers designers both hi-res and low-res video imaging, as well as a 25,000 lumen, graphic beam projector that packs a serious punch!

"I'm very happy to work with Morpheus again;" says Christmann, "It's good to have such an experienced, professional partner to help bring design concepts to reality. We worked closely together and the result speaks for itself. A big 'thank you!' to Morpheus, to Ayrton, and to my crew for all the hard work in preparation and on tour. You guys are killing it!"

Morpheus Lights' COO Mark Fetto says "Clearly we were very pleased to be selected again as the tour lighting vendor, having previously supported Korn on their 2016 outing. We really enjoy the collaborative process of working with Church and with the band's management to pull everything together."

Fetto continues, "We're particularly delighted to supply Ayrton's DreamPanel-Twin fixtures for this specific project. They're wonderful units and they play a strong role in the overall design. Church has recognized the creative potential inherent in this fixture and has seamlessly merged two, very different, video aspects with both continuous motion and positional control -- also utilizing the fixtures very powerful beam to create incredible stage looks song after song."
