Continuing with their mission to provide the live event industry with relevant and practical learning opportunities, the Event Safety Alliance announces the return of the Severe Weather Summit, March 8-9, 2016, at the National Weather Center's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Severe Weather Summit is a two-day weather awareness and planning workshop designed to aid live event and venue professionals in preparing for and responding to dangerous weather conditions. Subject matter experts from NOAA and the National Weather Service will introduce participants to short-fused severe weather incidents that can threaten all types of events and venues, as well as the steps involved in creating an effective severe weather preparedness plan.

Delivered from the perspective of event and venue professionals, topics of discussion will include:
• Common severe weather threats and mitigation strategies;
• Weather forecasting and monitoring resources;
• Key elements of a Severe Weather Emergency Plan;
• Chain of command and organizational issues;
• Crowd dynamics and legal considerations;
• Creating trigger charts;
• Post-incident analysis and documentation.

Understanding severe weather is a science all to itself. The Severe Weather Summit will provide attendees with the knowledge necessary to identify and prepare for potential threats, and how to use existing technology and expertise in order to safely handle a severe weather event.
