Avolites Supports Technical Theatre Arts Course at BRIT School

Avolites join PRG to bolster support for the technical theatre arts course at The BRIT School.

Regarded as one of Britain's exceptional schools for performing arts and technology, The BRIT School is in receipt of a Tiger Touch and Titan Mobile as part of a generous deal coordinated between PRG CEO Martin Locket, Avolites sales director Steve Warren, Andrew Smith, technical manager, and Guy Lovegrove, production manager at The Brit School.

Avolites has leant a helping hand to The BRIT School, Croydon, by equipping its performance spaces with a Tiger Touch and Titan Mobile. The promise of further support also comes from the offer to work alongside tutors to build a program of training in the near future. This would be held at the BRIT School site for pupils studying the technical theatre course.

Warren says, "The intention is that students will benefit from familiarizing themselves with industry standard equipment. Laying those foundations with a renowned industry supplier such as Avolites means the professionals of tomorrow will have the appropriate experience as they embark on their lighting careers."

Locket has been involved with the BRIT School Technical Theatre Arts course for many years. "PRG sponsors the course by providing equipment to the school and get actively involved in the students' development. Many graduates from the course now work for PRG or alongside us in many ways. I am particularly glad to have introduced Steve Warren to the school and that he and the Avo team are so enthusiastic to get involved on many levels. The students have had access to a theatre stack desk but were desperately lacking in something more appropriate for live music. The Tiger Touch and Titan Mobile will provide this for them and the overall package of hardware and training from Avo will benefit them greatly and complement the support that PRG are providing."

Lovegrove comments, "The nature of the course here at BRIT is such that the technical theatre arts students are required to work to as near professional standards as possible. The staff they work with are industry based, helping to ensure that these standards are met.

"Having the support of companies such as Avolites, along with the unique backing of the BRIT Trust, enables us to give students a real hands-on experience of current industry standard equipment. The training and work placements offered to our students from companies like Avolites really do help to maintain our unique position as a training institution that can produce students who not only attain a good qualification, but are able, where appropriate, to move straight into the professional world.

The first use of the new control consoles took place at this years 20th anniversary concert at BRIT with PRG's Luke Jackson in charge of lighting design and operation.
